Types of Permits
Two types of on-street permits are available in most areas:
· 6 & 12 Month: Permits are issued to residents only on a six months basis although permits for two consecutive terms are available. Terms are from December to May and from June to November. All permits issued during a term will be effective until the end of that term. Permits must originally be obtained in-person, however, they may be renewed on-line. Permit fees vary according to a priority system based on need as reflected below:
- No access to on-site parking for resident's first vehicle:
$10.36/month plus GST
- No access to on-site parking for resident's second and any subsequent vehicles:
$25.91/month plus GST
- Resident does have access to on-site parking (permit is for convenience):
$36.28/month plus GST
- Temporary (resident/visitor): Temporary parking permits may be obtained to provide weekly on-street parking within the limits of a permit parking street or area, provided space is available, at a cost of $15.61 (including GST) a week.

Permit for Residents Using a Vehicle Owned by Someone Else or a Rental Vehicle
If you currently have the use of a vehicle owned by someone else or a rental vehicle you can get an on-street parking permit, provided that you are the primary driver of the vehicle and provide supporting documentation. Please call Toronto City Hall at 416-392-7873 for more information.
Temporary Parking Permit Available On-line
Provided space is available, a temporary on-street parking permit may now be purchased on-line by residents and their visitors to park a motor vehicle on a street designated under the permit parking program. Using this on-line service (https://secure.toronto.ca/wes/eTPP/welcome.do), you will receive confirmation of the transaction and can print the permit yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions Concerning Temporary Parking
Is it possible to purchase a permit for more than one week at a time? Temporary permits are issued for a maximum length of one week in accordance with the permit parking by-law. You can renew your permit one week at a time provided space is available on your street or in your area.
I need to renew my permit can this be done on-line or do I have to come into one of your office locations? You may renew your permit on-line. Permits may be renewed for one week intervals. Follow the same steps as a new permit purchase.
Am I able to purchase a temporary permit for my guest or must my guest purchase it themselves? Either the resident or their guest may purchase a temporary parking permit.
I would like to purchase a temporary permit before my guest arrives but I do not know their licence plate number. Can I still purchase a permit? The permit must contain the licence plate number of the vehicle. Without this information a permit cannot be purchased.
Can I purchase a permit even though my licence plate number is out of province? Yes, you may purchase a permit even though your vehicle is registered under an out of province licence plate.
